Modern cars are getting more and more complicated all of the time. In fact, the modern car today has 30,000 parts or more!
With so many different parts of a car, it can be difficult to familiarize yourself with exactly how a car works. On the other hand, some parts are more essential than others. At the end of the day, the actual process by which a car can move what you tell it to move requires relatively few parts.
These are the parts that it is most important to understand if your car ever breaks down. But what are these essential parts, and how do they work?
Read on to learn all about the most important parts of your car!
The Radiator
In the course of normal functioning, the car produces an incredible quantity of heat. If this heat is simply allowed to build up inside of the car, it will begin to damage it. Therefore, there must be a tool that disperses the heat out of a car.
This tool is the radiator. The radiator runs fluid called coolant throughout your vehicle’s engine.
This fluid draws heat away from the engine. The coolant then flows away from the engine through the radiator.
The fluid then cools off while outside the engine. It can then return to the engine again and draw more heat away.
The Battery
One of the most common ways a car breaks down is that the battery runs out of power. The car relies on the electrical power of the battery to kick-start its engine process.
Once the engine is already running, it is self-sustaining. The combustion of the engine can power more combustion until you turn the car off. But to start the car in the first place, you need an electrical spark to start the process.
The Alternator
Of course, most of us are used to batteries that run out of power over time. How can a car battery keep providing power for years of driving a car? This is where the alternator comes in.
The alternator is essentially a generator. Your engine creates a lot of energy and moves your car’s wheels. Some of that energy is then run through the alternator to generate electricity.
This electricity then runs into the battery to keep it charged for years.
Even simple parts of car motors like a car gearbox can teach you a lot about how cars work. Modern gearboxes we’ll tend to have about 13 different kinds of parts in them. If you are interested in learning about cars, then check out this small planetary gearbox.
Know All of the Different Parts of a Car
We hope that you were able to learn something helpful from this brief article on a few of the most important different parts of a car. Knowing about cars takes a lot more than just knowing how to drive them. Cars will inevitably break down over time, and if you want to manage repairs yourself, you’ll have to know a lot about the inner workings of these machines.
