Windows 11 has more stringent system requirements than Windows 10. This means that Windows 10-compatible devices may not work with Windows 11. Microsoft created its own test program to determine if a PC is compatible with Windows 11 when it launched Windows 11. It was soon removed. Microsoft promised to provide an updated version within a shorter time frame than Windows 11.
These requirements are unchanged, but you can use third-party tools to verify if your device supports Windows 11.
Even if the device isn’t compatible with TPM, it is not impossible to make it work. If the processor supports firmware-based TPM, it may only take a simple flip of a switch to make the device compatible. This feature is supported by both Intel and AMD. You may be able to activate the Intel Platform Trust Technology and the AMD Platform Security processor in the BIOS to make the device compatible.
TPM 2.0 may not be supported on your device. You can enforce compatibility by disabling compatibility checks during setup if you get the message “This computer cannot run Windows 11”.
Here’s how it is done:
When the computer isn’t compatible during setup (e.g. When you install Windows 11 on disc or USB. The “next” button has not been activated so you can’t proceed.
To open a command prompt window, press Shift-F10.
To load Windows Registry Editor, type regedit and hit the Enter key.
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup in the Registry Editor window.
Right-click on Setup, and select New > Key.
Enter LabConfig in the Name field and hit the Enter key.
Right-click the LabConfig key to open it and choose New > Dword (32 bit) Value.
It can be called BypassTPMCheck.
Adjust its value to 1.
To disable Secure Boot Check
Right-click LabConfig to select New > Dword 32-bit Value
Name it BypassSecureBootCheck.
Adjust its value to 1.
To skip the RAM check
Right-click LabConfig to select New > Dword 32-bit Value
It can be called BypassRAMCheck.
Adjust its value to 1.
Close Registry Editor.
Enter exit into the command prompt window, and then press the Enter key.
To return to the previous system requirements check, activate the back button at the top left corner.
If all goes well, RAM, secure boot, TPM and secure boot should not be an issue during the compatibility test.
Many Windows features require TPM. If TPM is unavailable, they may not work or partially.
This method might not work for everyone, but it’s worth a shot if you get stuck during setup.
