The ASUS Rog FX503 could be the next competitor to Google’s Pixelbook as it’s packed with the latest Standard Voltage Intel Core processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 10 Series graphics, making it a powerful Windows 10 gaming laptop that’s also portable and stylish. But does that make it worth the $900 price tag? I was able to spend some time with one at CES 2018, so let’s take a look at how it compares to the Google Pixelbook 12in.
General Design
Asus ROG Strix GL502VS-DS71 is a great option for both work and play. It has an excellent price point, a beautiful screen, and powerful hardware that can handle almost anything you throw at it. While it won’t replace your desktop or gaming rig, it’s still an impressive machine in its own right. If you want to game on a budget, it might be a better choice than other more expensive options on our list—and if you aren’t planning to play demanding games at high settings or resolutions, it may be fine for casual gameplay. That said, if you do plan to do any gaming you should upgrade your graphics card as soon as possible.
Display Quality
When it comes to display quality, both Chromebooks excel. The Pixelbook has a 12.3-inch Quad HD touchscreen display that looks great whether you’re watching videos or swiping between different programs. But if you want more color and graphics capabilities, then go with the ASUS ROG Strix GL553VD, which has a Full HD 15.6-inch panel that’s bright and crisp for gaming.
Hardware Specifications
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti with 4GB GDDR5; Latest 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8750H Processor (6 Cores, 12MB Cache); Integrated Graphics: Intel UHD Graphics 630. The laptop is fully loaded with 16GB DDR4 2400 MHz RAM and 256GB M.2 SSD as well as an additional HDD/SSD slot and 2 more RAM slots allowing for up to 32GB total! The laptop comes with 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, 1 x USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port, 1 x HDMI port and a 2-in-1 SD Card reader for quick data transfer!
Performance and Benchmarks
The Dell Chromebook 13 with Intel Core i5 is faster than Acer Swift 3, Microsoft Surface Book 2, ASUS ROG Zephyrus GX501VS and ASUS ROG Zephyrus M GM501GS. While its benchmark result in 3DMark 11 might be lower than that of Microsoft Surface Book 2 and ASUS ROG Zephyrus GX501VS. But it’s still a great performance for a laptop that only has an integrated graphics card.
Operating System
Chrome OS vs Windows 10. The two operating systems are different animals, but they both have their merits. Google’s Chrome OS is known for its simplicity and speedy boot times, but Microsoft’s Windows 10 is an ever-evolving beast that can be customized to any situation or purpose. Let’s pit these two titans against each other in a battle for dominance of your laptop.
Gaming on the Go
Despite its size, ASUS ROG STRIX GL703GE is one of the best gaming laptops for hardcore gamers. Sporting a seventh-generation Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card with 6GB GDDR5 VRAM, it provides a fantastic gaming experience wherever you go. This combination of power and portability make it ideal for playing AAA games like Overwatch or DOOM at ultra settings on QHD display.
