A delegation of American and European technology executives has visited LUMS’s National Incubation Centre Lahore (NICL). The delegation was hosted by Saleem Ahmad, Chairman of NICL, and Dr. Arshad Khan, Vice Chancellor, and the Data Science Dojo. The delegates learned about the latest trends in start-ups, as well as how to leverage their expertise to improve business operations and improve social impact.
Entrepreneur in Conversation Series – LUMS hosted the first NIC Investor Summit in August 2018 in partnership with 500 Global, an international venture capital firm. The two guests were welcomed by NICL Chairman Saleem Ahmad and Board Member Max Scheder-Bieschin. The speakers discussed topics ranging from the latest technological advancements in agriculture to empowering farmers through technology. They also discussed blockchain, cryptocurrencies, and the role of a good business partner in their business success.

In the past few months, the Tech & Entrepreneur in Conversation Series has featured several successful entrepreneurs from the United States, Canada, and Pakistan. She spoke with Suneel Sarfaraz Munj, who is a former Managing Director of Careem Pakistan and an investor at the Mentors Fund. During the third session, she interviewed Hamza Iqbal, Founder of Healthwire and CEO of Salt Arts. His expertise in finance and economics has helped the entrepreneur invent a healthcare platform that is both user-friendly and profitable.
The event included a discussion with a Pakistani-American entrepreneur. During the event, Powell also discussed the importance of a successful business plan, which will lead to a successful start-up. She discussed the value of collaboration with local entrepreneurs, as well as how to ensure the success of a business. The forum is a great opportunity for the two sides to network and learn from one another.
