Novatel is a global technology company that has pioneered end-to-end positioning systems for land, sea, and air. Positioning is only guaranteed for Novatel if precise, accurate, dependable, available, and legitimate. Their goals are to enable intelligent positioning ecosystems in critical industries that rely on our ability to solve the most complicated problems in the harshest conditions. Ideal for business customers that require a mobile hotspot to access the Internet at any time and from any location. Do you need a safe, dependable, and long-lasting wireless connection? Would you like to exchange files with other connected devices over a local, secure Wi-Fi network? Try and connect to MiFi devices like Inseego MiFi.
What’s recent in Novatel?
Recently, Novatel introduced new products of GPs and GNSS that involve GPs chipset and GPS sensor and many more. GPS stands for Global Positioning System, as we all know. A GPS chip is a microchip used in a GPS receiver to receive signals from four of the 27 GPS satellites currently orbiting the Earth. The time it takes for a GPS device to receive a signal from each of the four satellites can be used to compute its position.
A GPS module’s update rate refers to how frequently it recalculates and reports its position. The most common device frequency is 1Hz (Only once per second). You’re probably not moving quickly enough to have altered position considerably in the last second unless you’re on an airplane or something. On the other hand, UAVs and other flying or fast vehicles may require faster update rates to keep on schedule. Five and even 10Hz refresh rates are becoming increasingly affordable. However, keep in mind that a high update rate implies more NMEA phrases transmitted out of the module. Some microprocessors will quickly become overloaded trying to decode that much data.
GPS sensors are antenna-equipped receivers that use a satellite-based navigation system that relies on a network of 24 satellites orbiting the planet to deliver location, velocity, and time data. In addition, satellites and ground-based control stations are part of the system. The GPS sensor comprises a surface mount chip that processes signals from GPS satellites using a small rectangular antenna that is usually installed on top of the GPS chip.
