Have you been avoiding travel altogether because of covid? This is a very common mistake, and a big one, too.
You see, traveling is good for both the body and the soul. In fact, many studies have confirmed that regular travel contributes to a longer life.
It’s true, though, that every activity is now a health risk due to the coronavirus. But, as with other activities, this doesn’t mean that you should give up on travel entirely. As long as there are no coronavirus travel restrictions in effect, you just need to learn how to travel safely during covid.
That’s where we come in. The following guide teaches you how to make modern travel safe whether you’ve had the covid vaccine or not. Read on to learn all about it.
1. Get the Covid Vaccine
If you haven’t already, consider getting the covid vaccine. Traveling is safer and a lot less restricted for covid vaccinated persons. But whether you do or don’t get the vaccine, make sure you pack masks and other precautionary paraphernalia, too.
2. Research Your Destination
Before you decide on a destination, research the rate of covid present in the locations you’re considering. Avoid high-risk locations by settling on alternative destinations that have lower rates of covid.
Another thing to research is whether or not the destination city has any coronavirus travel restrictions in effect. Also, find out if there are precautionary requirements, such as mandatory mask wearing for non-vaccinated persons.
3. Research Your Transportation Companies
Who are you flying with? And which cab company or rental car service will you use at your destination?
Different transportation companies have enormously different cleanliness/sanitization standards. Be sure to research any companies you travel with prior to booking. For instance, you can read a guide on choosing the ideal rental car service right here.
Furthermore, avoid ridesharing services like Uber and Lyft altogether. These companies essentially hire anonymously with no way to enforce cleanliness standards at all.
4. Wear Masks During Transportation
In a taxi, you obviously can’t keep 6 feet away from the driver or other passengers. But you can and should make sure you always wear your mask the entire time during transportation.
And try not to touch your face until you leave the vehicle and sanitize your hands. These rules apply to all transportation vehicles, including rental cars, busses, and airliners.
5. Only Travel With Your Party
Whenever possible, don’t share a vehicle with strangers. Obviously, you can’t do this on the plane. But you can forego a densely packed airport shuttle by calling a taxi instead.
This reduces the amount of time you spend in close proximity to strangers. However, your traveling party is a different story. Since you’re already spending most of your time away from home with these people, you might as well share their cab, too.
