Printer cartridges are commonly used in the home and office, but stains resulting from a leaking cartridge can be difficult to remove from clothing and carpets. Here are some tried and tested methods to remove ink stains caused by printer cartridges.
Carpet Stains – The important thing to remember when treating any type of stain is to treat it as quickly as possible. If an ink stain is allowed to dry, it will be much more difficult to remove. If there is a lot of ink on the carpet UV inks, the residue must be removed manually before treating the stain. A piece of cardboard or a plastic ruler is ideal for this. The area should then be treated with rubbing alcohol, if available. The alcohol should first be applied to a cloth or towel and then the stained area of the carpet should be gently blotted with the cloth to dissolve the stain. The area should always be dried, rather than rubbed, as the rubbing motion will further spread the stain.
If alcohol is not available, a mixture of carpet-safe detergent and water can be applied to the area UV Ink Convert, using the same method described above. Ideally, wash off the liquid or soap, as it is unlikely to damage the carpet. The area should be blotted until no more ink comes out of the cloth. A clean towel, cloth, or paper towel should then be used to pat the area dry and continue with fresh towels if ink is still coming off the carpet.

Stained clothing: There are several methods that can be used to treat ink stained clothing. Treat the stain immediately with soap and water as quickly as possible. Hairspray is a common treatment for ink-stained clothing, although care must be taken as the hairspray itself can leave a mark. Hairspray should be applied to the back of the stain and then blot the area with a clean cloth to remove as much of the ink as possible.
