What is Omegle?
Omegle is a brand new service on the Internet that allows you to meet new and possibly old friends. When you use Omegle, the system randomly selects an interlocutor. This, of course, is an unknown person. The chats are also anonymous, so no one knows who is talking to whom.
How does it work?
You go to the Omegle site, and you’re asked if you want to Chatroom with a stranger by clicking the “Start Chatting” button. Almost immediately, you will be connected to the stranger. Now you can chat with different people and leave the chat at any time if you no longer want to chat with a particular stranger. The system randomly selects two people for a private one-on-one chat. The site uses the two references “stranger” and “you” to communicate between people. It is a very simple system and very easy to use, regardless of your level of Internet experience.
History and Usage
When the service was launched, it had about 100 users. At the time of the last report (in April), the number of users online at any given time was about 3,000. The report also states that about 150,000 people a day visit the site. The system requires the use of certain chat names, namely “you” and “stranger.” The site has a strangely cheerful slogan that reads, “Chat with strangers.” In addition, phrases such as “Your caller is disconnected” are used at the end of each chat. These unique and unusual phrases seem to make the site even more popular.
The concept of anonymous chat is not the first chat room created at Omegle. Some comparisons go back to the early 1990s. There are similarities to a site called A Nice Camchat, which was created before Omegle. The difference is that A Nice Chat encouraged users to use an alias that others could see. In Omegle, on the other hand, users are known only as “you” and “stranger,” which makes the anonymity of the conversation even more apparent.
At this point, there are no age or other restrictions on who can use the site. The site does not appear to block defilement or spam bots with any filter. There are no costs, fees or contacts to use the site. There is also no need to register or create an account. The site is free to use.
Who uses Omegle?
The site is used by all types of users. Although it seems that there are more teenagers, this is just a guess as to who uses the site. Some people report visitors from all over the world and people of different age groups.
Omegle is a site for chatting with anonymous, randomly selected people online via chat. Leif K-Brooks of Vermont is the creator of this site. He launched the site in March 2009. K-Brooks hoped to create an alternative way for people to communicate with each other anonymously and non-threateningly. He felt that too many people were stagnant in the way they met people. K-Brooks believes that people often look for those who share the same goals and ideas. By bringing a little diversity into your life, you may meet other people who may have different ideas or see things differently. Diversity can make a big difference in a person’s life. Try Omegle and see what you think.
