Windows 10 comes with a lot of new features but sometimes you miss the good old screensavers of Windows XP and Windows 7. The feature was removed in Windows 8 for some reason but has been brought back to life after Cortana’s arrival. You can once again enjoy your favorite photos as a screensaver. In this article, we will see how to download and install free Windows 10 screensavers in 3 easy steps.
How to Download Free Screensavers on Windows 10
Step 1: First of all, open your favorite web browser on the computer that is running Windows 10 (it can be your mobile phone).
Step 2: Here you will find a list of screen savers. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and download any screensaver from there. Tap on ‘Installer’.
Step 3: Once downloading is finished, it will ask for confirmation, click on ‘Yes’ and the screensaver will be installed automatically. You can also check its box and run it on every startup of Windows 10.

If you want to change your screen saver settings back to what they were before follow these steps:
Open Settings from start menu search or by pressing windows key + i on your keyboard.
Now open Personalization (Windows 10 Settings > Personalization).
From there navigate to Lock Screen > Choose Picture. Here set the picture you want to see on your screen when it is locked. If you do not choose anything, Windows will show its logo on the lock screen by default.
Click on Background from the left panel, here check the box beside ‘Slideshow’. Now tick all photos you want to see as your screensavers.
Click on the drop-down menu under ‘Change screen saver’ > select any screen saver of your choice. We recommend to go for ‘Photo’ or ‘Blank’ unless you have an amazing collection of high resolution photographs.
That’s it! You can now enjoy your screen savers of Windows 10 and create a slideshow of pictures on the lock screen as well. To watch videos as screensaver open any video file with VLC (vlc video.mp4) and then choose ‘Video’ from the right hand panel in Display Settings mentioned in previous steps.
