WICHITA, Kan. (WBJ) – A lawsuit filed earlier this month by about a dozen Wichita bar and nightclub owners has been amended to drop their earlier complaints against a county mask mandate and mass gathering limit aimed at slowing the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, which is now in its deadliest months.
David Miller, the Wichita attorney representing the case, declined to comment further on why the changes were made.
“Beyond that, I stand by what I’ve alleged in my amended complaint regarding the curfew restrictions in the emergency order,” Miller said in an email.
Initially the bar owners alleged that a mask mandate violates their rights to privacy, freedom of speech and the right to make medical decisions, and that a mass gathering restriction violates their right to peaceably assemble.
