I’ve been a bit quiet this week. I haven’t posted any new blog posts mostly because I’ve been waiting for my new paintings to be delivered.
But my silence doesn’t mean that I have stopped painting altogether. It just means that instead of posting on social media, I posted the latest originals on my website.
And here they are!
I call these paintings ‘Cityscape’. In other words, they’re city paintings. You can find the originals of both pieces in my Shop, ready to be shipped to your door or a lovely person of your choice.

1. Because they look good from whatever angle you are looking at them
I don’t want to bore you with technicalities of perspective or other things that can make your eyes glaze over. Let’s just look at some examples of paintings that I’ve done and decide for yourself why they’re fun to stare at.
This one, ‘Sails’, is painted in a very distinctive shape. The composition has been done so that the viewer can see the painting from any point of view without feeling lost or confused about what’s happening.
The way the light changes in different times of day makes the painting look completely different. So you get to enjoy a painting depending on what time you’re looking at it!
This one is fun because it has three unique shapes within itself, and each shape creates its own little universe that I’ve composed just for your eyes to drink in. It’s a small painting that means so much.
You can see how different the painting looks depending on where you’re viewing it from. This cityscape is definitely fun to stare at!
A smaller shape doesn’t always mean a duller composition – just look how lively this little guy is! You can walk around him and take your time to enjoy how the colors come together.
2. Because you can stare at it for hours and discover something new every time
This is one of my favourites, as well as one of my mum’s favourites (I sent her this painting). It looks busy at first glance, but there is actually so much more going on in here.
I’ve painted it with very soft colors to make the painting feel smooth and calm. But if you look closely, there are signs of an actual city within this one piece.
There’s a detail of a road hidden in here that runs through two buildings. There’s actually a lot going on – I was amazed by how many things I could paint in this one piece when I stepped back to look at the whole thing.
The fact that so much can be hidden within a painting makes it fun to stare at and find things!

3. Because their size might make you feel like you’re actually there
This is ‘Copenhagen’s Skyline’. It was originally painted as a commission, and I think it really turned out well! This is what the commissioner had to say about the piece:
“It’s vivid with lots of interesting detail, but still manages to capture what makes Copenhagen so unique.”
I’m glad that my painting captured your city in a way you felt was true! And if haven’t visited Copenhagen before, maybe this painting will inspire you to go!
The obvious reason why these paintings would make you feel like you’re there is because of their size. But it’s not just that – I’ve also tried my best to capture the mood of a city by using color and composition.
4. Because that skyline might be your favourite part of the painting
I feel like a cityscape can surprise you in many different ways, depending on how you look at it.
If you’re looking for a big piece to hang above your couch, this one might be perfect! You could stare at it and compare your own memories of the city to mine. It’s a conversation starter too – “Oh, is that where you live? What’s it like living next to those buildings?”
This painting also happens to be one of my mum’s favourites. I painted this as a gift for her – the little red boat in the middle is actually our family houseboat back home! You can see how personal something like this could feel.
