Antigua is a beautiful island situated to the east of the Caribbean Sea, its largest island is Grand Cayman and its capital city Antigua. The Antiguan government has promoted Antigua as a tourist attraction and declared it the “erella of the Caribbean” due to the rich cultural heritage, fine beaches, white sand and diverse marine life. It has turquoise blue sea coast with white sands that attract millions of visitors from worldwide. Antigua’s uniqueness can be seen from its unique geographical positioning, volcanic craters, exotic birdlife, coral reefs, unique water sports and diverse culture.
Antigua is a small island located in the Caribbean near the islands of Barbados and Aruba. Its boundaries with the mainland and Grand Cayman are marked by a chain of long sandstone cliffs that stretch for miles. Antigua has five World Heritage sites; Antigua quando andare national park, Antigua observatory, dell clima observatory, Antigua zoo and museum. It has also been declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. Tourists come to Antigua to witness this unique island and its colourful people.
The second day in Antigua starts from the beautiful town of Antigua quando andare airport which is located at the heart of the island. You will reach the town square where you will find restaurants, shops and hotels. One must visit the museums which house the relics collected by the Spanish during their reign. In addition to these, the museum contains paintings done by famous artists. The museum also has sculptures and other art forms made during the rule of the Spanish Royal family.
The third day in Antigua starts from the Antigua observatory which is located in the northern part of the island. Visitors can see the sun setting down on the ocean and enjoying the setting sun. The second largest town in Antigua is Pisac’s which is home to the University. The University offers courses in Astronomy, Anthropology, Geology, History and Geography.
Next to be visited is the town of Pisac which is also a university. Pisac is known for its beaches and many have made it a favorite destination to spend a vacation. One of the must see sites in Antigua is the precipitazioni or the hill of stone columns that are found at the base of the mountain called the l isola. The precipitazioni is a dramatic sight with white stone columns rising up to hundreds of feet into the air.
Next to be visited is the town of Caucedo which is the home of the national Museum. The museum has artifacts depicting the history of Antigua and it includes ancient sculptures, stone carvings, copper pottery and other antiques. Besides the l isola and the precipitazioni, the museum also contains the remains of the 16th century friars, a prison, an apiary, a church and the ruins of an amphitheater.
Antigua’s climatic conditions make it a perfect tourist destination for those who seek an exotic and romantic place to spend their holiday. In addition to having natural wonders like the l isola and the precipitazioni, the area also has many outdoor activities such as scuba diving, snorkeling and hiking.
